From Ernie Fingerle (My Uncle):
Hi Art:
Thank you very much for your Newsletter. I found it very interesting and informative. Your doing a great job in researching the “Fingerle” name.
When I was in the Army in 1943 - 46 in Clinton, Iowa. I met an officer from Ann Arbor, Mich. and he wanted to know if I knew about the Fingerle Lumber Co. At that time I didn’t so he gave me entire Yellow Page ad from the telephone book. I enjoyed reading about the Fingerle family in Ann Arbor.

Dear Arthur:
Thanks for the recent newsletter and I hope they keep coming. The newsletter noted, “What about a Fingerle reunion in 1996?” Well there is one in the North Manchester area of Indiana every year, That being the third Sunday in June. I drove to Indiana the week before the reunion date this past June but the event was cancelled due to a death of one fingerle member, my aunt Maude. This reunion has been taking place for a number of years and is attended by 100+ members. Due to the distance I have not been able to attend as often as I would like. With this in mind, I doubt very much if very many from Indiana would attend a reunion in California. Which I assume, would be in your area, my thoughts only.
Sincerely
Jesse Fingerle

Dear Mr. Fingerle:
We have enjoyed your Fingerle Newsletters and your interest in pursueing the Fingerle relatives. I think a Fingerle Reunion could be very interesting. It would probably have to be centralized somewhere in the states if you wanted many to attend. My husband is Chester Fingerle and Abraham Leo Fingerle 1868- 1941 is his grandfather. Michael’s father and Jesse Fingerle are his cousins.
Chester’s mother, Anna Maude Fingerle, was 97 years old when she passed away June 22nd 1995. All of her grandchildren, 19 of them, were able to attend her funeral and they were from California, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Ohio and Indiana. She was a special mother and grandmother to all of us.
We knew we had some relatives around Modesto, CA., but had no idea there were so many Fingerle’s in other states. It’s a small world isn’t it?
Wishing you success in your future call for the Fingerle’s!
Sincerely
Chester & Helen Fingerle
